That time of the year....already?

To survive the holidays, and the inevitable splendor that comes with spreading holiday cheer....here are some images from a recent PDC trip which throughouly inspired me for ideas for a clients home...maybe it will do the same for you!
Great mix of contemporary and organic

Love the chandelier, great use of wrought iron and geometry

The real thing, very nuetral, natural, and refreshing...

Orange you Glad...

With fall around the corner, and Halloween just a month away, it is time to celebrate orange. Orange has the ability to lift our moods, and add that pop to any room.

These orange Hermes boxes are a great contrast of the neutral bone console.

These chairs are beautiful in this room, a subdued orange that adds warmth and character to the room.

Jonathan Adler pillows, great additions and inexpensive.

I will take them all..amazing kitchens

Because I love to cook Italian food, and love to eat it even more, I am one who longs for a gorgeous kitchen. Growing up my mother learned to cook from her Italian grandma who was an amazing chef who came to America by herself, a single mother, and raised two very successful boys on her own barely speaking any English. Such an inspiration!
Growing up in Connecticut, every Sunday my mother would go to her Grandmothers house and she would teach my mother a new Italian dish. Today, my mother has passed down this tradition to my family, still using the cookbook from my Grandma, with her scribbled Italian notes! I am so lucky to have such an amazing teacher who fills every recipe with the most important ingredient...LOVE!
(You can always tell when a meal is made from the heart)

Here are some of my ideas of a dream kitchen, I have to say number one is cape cod: traditional carrera marble 2" thick butcher block counters, white subway tiles (preferably Barbara Barry white subway tiles from Anne Sacks) white painted cabinets (uppers seeded glass), and beautiful french oak wideplank floors....heaven.
This is the happiest kitchen, it is so inviting. Love the freshness.

Love these pendants.

On the surface...it matters.

There is nothing like a beautiful antiqued French Oak floor, old terra cotta tiles, or a beautiful white carrera marble. Surface materials are a beautiful thing, especially when they look like they have existed in their home forever.

Here are some of my faves:

1. Beautiful French Antique Oak Herringbone Floors

2. Wide plank barn style floors

Romantic antique limestone fountain, tre chic.

Nothing like a beautiful marble checkered floor...

Chic and Fresh for Spring

Here is a board for a clients house in Santa Monica: The look is fresh, chic, and organic with a contemporary twist.

Just a few tidbits from the room

Floorplan:

Sofa: Tailored, and just the right blending of modern and traditional

Linen Graphic Pillows: Mixing graphic textures on soft fabrics like linen, help to create a sense of depth and softness to the room, it also pics a hint of color

You have to have a soft piece in the mix as well, love the prayer beads as well
they are gorgeous draped over an accessory.

Bookcase: Recliamed wood in a contemporary design, great architectural piece:

Metallic Cowhide Rug: Love this look it has just the right amount of fun

Succulent photos: Grouping of four: This picks up the subtle colors in the pillows and lamp and adds a natural soothing feeling, bringing the outdoor in

Crackled Glass Lamp:

Horn Coffee Table: This table is so special, it has a top made from horn (no animals hurt promise!) and the base comes in a gold and silver leaf finish.

Metal bead chandelier: an industrail material in a traditional for.

Chair with nail heads and interesting arm:

Bring in the oxygen with this beautiful fig tree: I like placing these in woven baskets. Here is a great one from Pottery Barn, it is oversized which plays with the scale of the room.

Au Natural...

The simplicity of this room definetely can sooth one after a long day. I love this room, it is like stepping into a room you would find at a french winery in the country. The smooth plaster walls, nuetral color pallete, cozy bedding, and peaceful sprig of the olive plant. I incorporated this look into my apartment bedroom, now all I need is a chateau. Perfect. I will take two...

Here are some extras when adding this look to any space

natural jute baskets, perfect for throws, pillows, magazines, and making the things you have look lovely.

A Syrian inlaid chair, made with bone and ebony, this is an amazing take on a ancient Greek klysmos chair, even the Greeks knew somthing about ergonomics; this chairs design has been carried through and is still an amazing eye catching piece.

Here is my interpretation!

Here are some inspiring, peaceful, and amazing natural spaces, I will take any of them. YES PLEASE.
